Ponderings of My Morning

This morning God did it! He helped me up at 5am…not only that but Elizabeth (5 months) slept all the way through the night without a peep!! Woo hoo! God is good!

Too add to the beauty of all of this, I spent over an hour of sweet time reading and praying and hearing some things from God and what He wanted me to do. It was just such a beautiful time! I was really blessed, and even my husband got up early. He went outside, shoveled the snow (from the night’s snowfall), came back in, and drank coffee with me while he read the Word. Then he went into work a little early to get ahead start on the day’s work. It was so refreshing!

I have been so busy all morning – and I love it! I still have plenty left to keep me busy. I look forward to doing it again tomorrow. Boy does it change the tone of the day from negative, rushed, and stressed, to positive, steady, and peaceful. Why would I ever stop doing this?! Thank you 5AM girls…I browse around your blogs and you encourage me, probably without even knowing it! You are a blessing!

 

Less than Convienent…

Last night, I did not sleep at all. My littlest one (5 months) was up what seemed like every 5 mins.  She simply did not want to be left alone to sleep, which is unusual. She has never slept in our bed and usually falls asleep on her own. Needless to say, I did not sleep well. Now that my baby is a little older, it is that time again to begin sleep training. But that’s for another entry.

I fully planned on and looked forward to getting up at 5am this morning in order to spend time with Jesus. To begin my day with that foundation. I don’t know if satan is trying to rob me or God is just testing me…or maybe both. That’s what happened to Job. Now, my situation is nowhere near as dire as Jobs. But the concept is the same. Satan robbed him, God tested him. I’m beginning to see that no matter how I slept the night before, God is calling me to be faithful, and in turn He will be faithful. Getting up at 5am is already a sacrifice…if it cost me nothing it would not be a sacrifice. It costs me sleep. But isn’t spending that precious time with Jesus even more important then sleep? Do I truly believe that God will take care of my needs and will sustain me OR better yet, overflow the blessings of being alert and awake during the day?

I’m beginning to see a trend…if I allow every little thing that doesn’t go my way stand in the way of my time with Jesus, I will never have time with Jesus. I need to press through all the obstacles and have that time no matter what. No more excuses. Yes, it would mean more sacrifice…but wouldn’t it make that time all the more valuable and worth it?

It’s 5:27AM…

…and I remember this morning that I want to give something back to Jesus. I want to give him precious morning time.  Below are just some verses that really spoke to me this morning. I have been reading through the book of Psalms and this morning I read from chapter 9. Last night, at a women’s tea we had at my church, one of the speakers spoke of how she learned the importance of memorizing scripture, so I have decided to implement this into my own life and also into the lives of my children. It seems simple. What better way to hide God’s word in your heart? I know, for me, it will be more then merely memorization – but that’s where it starts.

I will be happy because of you; God Most High, I will sing praises to your name. Psalm 9:2

I tend to struggle at times with happiness (not to be confused with joy). Happiness is the outward emotion based on circumstances.  On a day to day basis, my circumstances, although not bad but they seem to almost never go the way I would like! I suppose that’s the story of a mother’s life. My problem is, I tend to have my own agenda and many times the agenda is being crushed by the demands of young children who need me more then the housework screams at me.

Today, there is a greater need begging for attention. It’s not about housework or balancing children’s needs. It’s about the dangers of false teachers and how they are destroying even the good leaders. Don’t get caught up in the lies. Continue to renew your mind with the Word – it is powerful. Sharper then any two-edged sword. We need to let it speak to us daily and keep us innocent of those false teachers who use it to their destruction and the destruction of others. The days are evil.

Psalm 11:2-3 Like hunters, the wicked string their bows; they set their arrows on the bowstrings. They shoot from dark places at those who are honest. When all that is good falls apart, what can good people do?

Not all false teachers come right out as obvious false teachers. Many are so subtle, that only being grounded in the Word will reveal their false teachings and twisting of scripture.
