IMG_0387blogI’m Christin and I am the daughter of a King…The King, Jesus Christ. I gave my heart to the Lord as a teenager and met my “to be” husband about a year later. We married in 2000 and have 4 beautiful children, ages 7, 4, 2, and 1.

The purpose of this blog is to speak God’s Truth in love, encourage other women, and share testimonies of God’s glory. My desire to fulfill my role as a woman is not merely to “feel fulfilled”. I freely give myself up as a living sacrifice to God and long to be obedient to His word. In addition, I don’t follow God’s Word with thoughts of trying to be a “good Christian”. I follow Him because He loved me enough to die for me. I owe Him everything. Still, it is not out of obligation that I serve. It is out of love…an imperfect love…but one that I am learning more about everyday, right from Him.  Becoming a gracious or virtuous woman does not happen overnight, which is why I named this blog Journey to a Gracious Woman.

Being a woman of virtue does not stop at the well known verses of Proverbs 31 and Titus 2. There are many excellent attributes woven throughout scripture including the fruit of the Spirit, the essence of love, and the gift of forgiveness, just to name a few. It is an ongoing, lifelong endeavor…and a beautiful one at that. Each small success is still a success. Each baby step forward glorifies God.

My favorite verse is probably

Proverbs 31:30 (NASB77)
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

This is where everything begins. If we do not have a genuine fear of the Lord, we cannot fully understand why we serve Him, or why we should. I imagine there are other factors that deny us fullness of Him, since we are sinful and living in a fallen world. However, God is still God and serving Him can be sweeter when we understand why we do it. If you don’t fully understand what it means to fear the Lord, you can do a study on it. It will be well worth your effort. :)

When reading my blog, please remember there is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9) and you will probably come across something you’ve read or heard before, just re-created. That’s how we all learn. We learn something and pass it on in our own words or own creative way of expression.  Direct quotes will be given credit, but it will not be unlikely to see an old idea represented in a new way or in my own words and expounded on.

I saw that triangle diagram at a marriage conference three years ago and it has stuck with me ever since… and it is SO true!! When we look to God for fulfillment instead of our spouse, we then have something to offer them even when they have nothing to offer us! :)

  5. [...] Christin at Journey to a Gracious Woman has a great post about Managing a Household today.  As I’m reading it, I am right there with her, and know that in building my Household Notebook, I’m on the right path.  Slowly, but surely, I’m getting there!!! I will still be addressing Notebooking later this week, after I’ve taken care of my personal projects. [...]

Wow! Your life sounds so much like mine is it almost scary. Right down to the books you’ve read. I have been reading your blog for awhile now and wanted to let you know how much I enjoy it. I also have a prayer reuest for you, if you don’t mind…my husband, very recently, decided that he didn’t want to be married anymore…his reasons have nothing to do with me or the kids (accept that he doesn’t think he loves me anymore) but are intirely ego-centric. My prayer is that he will turn back to God and that God will direct him back to us. We are both attending Christian pastoral counseling, seperately, with the hopes of moving to joint sessions. If you could keep us in your prayers, I would greatly appreciate it. And, sorry to put such a downer out there.

  8. Hi Christin,

I came across your blog at Your Sacred Calling where you were asking about courtship. I wanted to invite your to read The Gift – an allegorical story on my site.

My husband and I have studied this life issue in great depth! Our daughter is 9yo and she already has a strong understanding of God’s plan for marriage.

I look forward to getting to “know” you by reading your site, too.

I’d really like to e-mail you if possible. I want to share something with you but I’d rather not leave it in a comment. Please e-mail me at stewardofthegifts [at] hotmail [dot] com when you get the chance.

    Thanks! :)

So good to get to know you a bit better through your story. Your blog is inspiring…loved your “goals” page…very motivating to me, particularly seeing another woman with some of the same goals as I have. Thank you for sharing your heart.

Question: Do you create all your own buttons: ie “It’s a Real Job series” or “A Mother’s Responsibility” series?

I look forward to getting to know you better as the days go on. A delight to visit today.

Please drop in and visit me some time,

The template came from WordPress, but the banner is mine. I made it and change it periodically. :) Everything on the sidebars I added…the buttons on the top right (the first three) are mine…I created them myself. Most of the other buttons were created by the owners of those sites or blog designers. Hope this helps! :)

I have never worked with a blog designer, but I can point you to a blog who has and who puts regular tips/ideas on her blog. Here is her website:

  15. christin, I found your blog through Ann Voskamp, a good friend, who reviewed my recent book, “Parenting is Your HIghest Calling … and Eight Other Myths” on her site, “A Holy Experience.” I’m looking to give away more books to reviewers and bloggers—about the true calling of parenthood, exposing our human-centered myths and replacing them with God’s bracing, challenging truths about parenting. May I send you a copy??

Thanks and may God continue to bless the journal of your journey!

Please feel free to contact me for more info on each of the above titles. Let me know if you would like to review any of these books on your blog as well.
