I am taking the 30-Day True Woman Make-Over from Revive Our Hearts ministries. I am to read Proverbs 31:10-31 taking it one verse per day. I am going to use my blog to capture my thoughts and allow other input if others’ have thoughts to share. It will be an excellent reference once it’s all done and I pray I’ll learn much from going through it. There are several things I’ve learned over the years of studying the Proverbs 31 woman…I am hoping to learn something new this time around! So, without further ado…

Proverbs 31:10 – A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more then rubies. (NIV)

What an excellent question! Yet what a sad reality that it is so hard to find such a woman. Though, I find many women who blog about being dedicated to filling the steps of such a woman. However, in my everyday life and acquaintance, it is much less so. OK, this is not about every other woman. This is about me and my role. What can I do to allow Jesus to make such a woman of me? I need to surrender myself. Ooooh, yea…that’s gonna hurt. Maybe at first…but I think the more I deny myself, my flesh, the more the Holy Spirit can work in me.

A virtuous woman is also known as:

  • a woman of valour–which means having great courage in a time of danger; heroic
  • a woman of strength — not to be confused with a strong woman [of feminism]
  • a woman who is worthy

Talk about her worth – far above rubies. What kind of value do rubies have? Obviously we know they are a red gem. What I’ve learned about rubies is that the original ruby is worth far more then it’s lab-created counterfeit. The original is also more beautiful then the artificial, which are more transparent. They lack depth.  The authentic is much deeper in color.  They’re worth much because they are a rare find. Hmm…sounds familiar. A virtuous woman is also a rare find and therefore more valuable…even moreso then rubies.
